About me

Jilles Blokker, UX Designer

Brief initial presentation of myself and my previous experiences.

Hello I am Jilles Blokker

Based in Hoorn. I've always been drawn to fixing things. Not just making them work, but making them work better. That instinct led me from informatics to human centered design, where I found what I was looking for: the space between technology and people.

What drives me is simple: helping people navigate digital experiences without thinking twice about it. When someone uses something I designed and it just makes sense, that's when I know it worked.

I believe digital products should work for everyone, without confusion or frustration. That's not idealism, it's just good design. When something is built right, people don't notice the interface. They just get things done.

I work best in collaboration. Good solutions come from listening to users, challenging assumptions with teams, and testing ideas early. I like the process of iteration, where each round brings more clarity and less friction.

How it works

My design Approach

This is my ideal workflow. But not every project needs all phases. For example, some projects only need research and an audit. Others require mapping out the information architecture. But ideally, for projects that need to be build from scratch or scale ups, I go through each phase to fully optimize the product.

Phase 1

Understanding

Before solving anything, I need to know what the real problem is. This phase is about gathering insights, observing behavior, and understanding motivations. It's where assumptions get challenged and patterns emerge. The goal is clarity: knowing who we're designing for and why it matters.

Phase 2

Structuring

Once I understand the problem, I define how to solve it. This phase connects user needs to business goals and creates a clear plan forward. It's about organizing information, setting priorities, and making smart trade-offs. The result is a roadmap that guides every design decision.

Phase 3

Creating

This is where ideas become tangible. I translate strategy into visual solutions that can be experienced and tested. The focus is on structure and flow, not polish. Designs at this stage are meant to be adjusted quickly based on feedback and new insights.

Phase 4

Validating

Good design is proven, not assumed. This phase tests whether solutions actually work for real users. I measure behavior, gather feedback, and refine based on what I learn. The goal is confidence: knowing the solution solves the right problem in the right way.
